Eva Lovia | 4 Easy Steps to a Healthier You by Health

Eva Lovia is a lifestyle blogger who’s also a health and fitness buff, which is why you will find that most of what she writes about centers on living a healthy lifestyle. In this post, Eva Lovia shares a few simple tricks that you can do to improve your health. These are easy to do, but they require discipline. She adds that a healthy lifestyle is as much a mind game as it is physical calisthenics. She believes that if you train and discipline your mind, your body will follow.

Here are a few simple and easy-to-do steps to a healthier and happier you:

1. Ditch the sugared drinks

Whenever you feel thirsty, your first instinct might be to reach for that canned soda or energy drink in the fridge. These are loaded with sugar, which actually could make you even more thirsty after a few minutes. Instead of these sugared drinks packed with empty calories, get yourself a glass of water; it is still the best thirst-quencher of all, says Eva Lovia. It’s good for staying hydrated, quenches your thirst and is good for your body. Need more reason to ditch the sugar and drink water instead? Water keeps your skin hydrated, which means it could keep wrinkles at bay.

2. Drink coffee for a natural morning jolt

What better way to wake up the senses and start the day than sipping a freshly brewed cup of coffee? Studies reveal that coffee is actually good for you, shares Eva Lovia. Coffee is high in antioxidants, and for a lot of people, it serves as their main source of these free-radical-fighting agents. But be careful not to load your coffee with sugar. If you want your coffee a little sweet or you wish to take some of the bitterness out, use natural sweeteners (try Stevia).

Since caffeine can keep you up all night, make sure to refrain from drinking coffee after two in the afternoon, suggests Eva Lovia.

3. Get a good night’s rest

It cannot be emphasized enough how a good night’s rest can benefit your mental and physical health. After a hard day’s work, your mind and body need to rest. A good night’s sleep re-energizes the mind and body and gets you ready for the day’s tasks. Lack of sleep can affect your mental functions, deprive you of your much-needed energy, and can affect your appetite hormones. Studies show that poor sleeping habits can lead to obesity. It’s those instant jolts—sugar highs—that you reach for when you need an instant energy boost that may be the culprit; the main source of which is junk food.

4. Make time for play

For busy people, this is one of the most neglected aspects of healthy living, laments Eva Lovia. “Nothing is more important than your health,” says Eva Lovia; “and not making time to enjoy activities outside of work isn’t only unhealthy for your mind and body, it’s also unhealthy for your relationships;” Eva adds.

As much as possible, make weekends all about you and your loved ones; all work and no play makes Jack an unhealthy individual.
